Hinata Shouyou wig + Cosplay review

After posting pictures of my cosplay on my main blog, i got quite a few asks about it, so i decided to go ahead and post a review on all of it at once!!
Starting from head and going down okay!!
the wig is a very pretty bright orange color, that can either photograph blindingly bright or a little bit lighter than the actual color!! the one i received was pretty big for my head so i had to clip it in the back and it made it good c: it was also fairly long- sadly i didn’t think to take pictures of it before i cut it, but a lot of hair was taken off!!
i cut it very short, i even used noya’s long hair as a measurement to see if i left it too long! from the top of the head to the back its very fluffy/spikey, the only part that isnt spiked is the bangs/sideburns. it was styled using hairgel and got2b glued hairspray (which dries super fast!!)
i love the wig soo much it’s a little bit thin in the back but it was easy to style it so you couldn’t see the wefts, the top and front is super thick though, perfect for his spikes! 10/10, definitely
-
i got both the wig and outfit for my birthday, so i have no idea about shipping or anything! but the smallest size that is not custom made is MEDIUM! for 99% of the shouyou outfits on ebay, medium will be the smallest size for some reason.
the shirt is so long on me, it’s perfect to tuck in so it wont get untucked when i raise my arms, but i wont be wearing it untucked as it will be a dress on me!! the shorts were also fairly long, they ended just above my knees, and they were pulled up ABOVE my waist to get it like that, and then i rolled my waist band up, so basically- they’re extremely long lol
the quality on the shorts was horrible compared to the shirt.
the hem on the bottom was horrible, there were strings coming from the top band, which i believe were connected to the lining!! which i forgot to mention- on the inside of the shorts theres a separate “lining” that im assuming is for boys?? im not sure, but i just cut mine out as it was fairly annoying eek.
since the shorts were so long, i had to alter them! ive never done any type of sewing on shorts other than hemming them, so i had to ask my mom to re-sew the crotch area and the inside of the legs so they wouldn’t be so loose, after she did that i cut the shorts to around 14-15 inches and hemmed them to 13 inches
the outfit is super comfortable to wear, it doesn’t stretch too much but it’s still easy to get the shirt on and off- and the top of the shorts has tight elastic (so you can tuck your shirt in!)

Wet N Wild megaslicks balm stain review

Another Penguin Review! today I’ll be reviewing Wet n Wild’s Megaslicks Balm Stain in 127 “A Stiff Pink” this retails for about $2.99 but currently at my walgreens it’s on sale for $2.09
Quick pro/con
Pros: cheap, glides on smoothly, stains nicely, twists up from the bottom so you don’t have to sharpen the stick
cons: limited color range, you can feel it on your lips, slight minty/tingly feeling when first applied, starts feeling dry after about 30min
Giant lip pencils or “chubbies” as some call them.. have become increasingly popular over the last few months. When I saw the collection that wet’n’wild released, I wasn’t too impressed.. I believe the collection has 6 colors, i picked up the brightest pink they had. Normally pinks don’t look too hot on me, but this is a cool toned barbie pink, and I love it.
the formula is VERY wet. or slick, if you will. It glides on nicely, but beware.. it stains very quickly so if you mess up - you’ll be rocking a bright mustache for awhile.
In the picture you can see my natural lips, below it a picture with the balm on and then a picture of my lips once i wiped the balm off.
You can definitely tell you’re wearing something on your lips, it feels in-between a lipgloss and lipstick.
Over all I really like this balm. I’m gonna purchase some of the other colors in the future.

Today, instead of a review, i’ll be doing a short tutorial/DIY on a face scrub, you know, for after you’ve been cosplaying all day!
Now, I know there are a lot of crap scrubs out there telling you to put lemon and baking soda on your face (don’t ever do that) but this one has no harmful ingredients (unless you happen to be allergic).
what you’ll need:
A small bowl, measuring spoons, all natural greek yogurt, honey (unfiltered raw is the best), and rice flour.
If you don’t have rice flour, but you do have plain rice and a blender, just blend up a little rice to make rice flour.
First, measure out 1 1/2 tsp of rice flour, add 1 1/2 tsp yogurt, then 1 tsp honey and mix together until smooth. At first it may appear that it will not combine, but I assure you that it will.
Next all you have to do is apply it to your face and gently scrub. I would avoid the under eyes because that skin is very sensitive. When you finish rubbing this into your skin you can use a washcloth (I prefer microfiber) and gently rise it all off.
Afterwards apply your favorite moisturizer. I use baby oil.
*This is enough for two uses, I usually share with my sister. You can either half the recipe or save the remaining mixture to use WITHIN a week. Make sure you store it in an airtight container and refrigerate it.

NYX powder blush "cinnamon" review

today i’ll be reviewing NYX’s powder blush in Cinnamon.
This blush retails for about $5.99, however I had a 20% off one item coupon from ULTA and snagged it for $5.19
NYX has a large selection of powder blush colors, with a variety of matte and glitter blushes. “Cinnamon” is a vibrant matte orange , a perfect color for spring and summer. The powder is soft and very pigmented, a little goes a long way!
The staying powder of a blush is hard to determine since you usually apply blush over a foundation and if the foundation isn’t long wearing- the blush won’t be either. However, I placed mine over Pond’s Luminous Finish BB Cream (review coming soon) and it stays for about 5 hours, longer if i apply a primer before my BB cream.
Overall, I give this blush a big thumbs up. I believe it would look great on all skin tones, although fair folk will need to be careful with how much they apply.
I suggest using a small fluffy brush with this one, since the pigmentation is so great. (I only did one swipe on my fingers in the picture)

Sockdreams Extraordinary striped thigh highs review

image

extraordinary striped thigh highs review
Price: $16
colors: pomegranate & burgundy, grey and black(?? no longer listed)
Pros: Perfect for the Witch god tiers in homestuck, extremely long, don’t fall down at all, mostly comfortable.
Cons: Extremely high up, slightly itchy.
image
Both of these were gifts, so unfortunately I’m not too sure on the shipping times.
These socks are pretty comfortable, but after awhile they can be a bit itchy near the top, and things like twigs love to stick onto them.
They are extremely high up though, as someone who is 5’4, they almost reach to where my shorts ended, and weren’t pulled up 100%. the red socks end higher up though.
After wearing them for hours while cosplaying, I can confirm that they will  almost never fall down when you walk, so there’s no need to attach anything to them to make sure they stay up.

Len Kagemine wig review

Len Kagamine wig review

(Photo from the listing)
Price: 15.90
This wig wasn’t specifically listed as a Len Kagamine wig, but my Rin linked it to me for us to both get for our Len and Rin, so!
Pros: Amazingly soft, thick, easy to brush, not super yellow looking like most blonde cosplay wigs, not matte and fake looking
Cons: Slight shedding, thick, on the slightly shiny side.
I bought it the first of May and it arrived the 10th, I was surprised at first at how fast it came in, because my Rin’s wig was ordered before mine and hadn’t come in yet.
I forgot to take pictures of it before It was styled, but my Rin was nice enough to let me use hers!
(Thank you Abstractufo !)
When I got it it was quite nice and thick, the color was exactly like the picture they had on their listing, which is a first for me since sometimes wigs are slightly off in color, but are still nice.
I ran my fingers through it a bit and saw some shedding, but nothing too bad, it’s actually a really nice quality wig.
(Miku is mod P, check out her review on the Miku wig!)
It cuts and styles easily, but if you’re using it for a male, like Len, it can be a bit bothersome because of how thick it is, I did a half up half down hairstyle for my wig as I liked how it looked better, and the bottom looked a bit odd because of how thick it is.
but if you’re using it for a female character, like Christa from Attack on Titan, or Rin, it’ll be really great!
I give it a 10/10, it’s amazing and cheap, definitely worth it!

Maybelline the Megaplush volume express review

"Now, mega volume goes mega plush. Our first gel-mousse mascara, lashes never brittle or flaky" or so says Maybelline. (and me)
Quick assessment: Awesome.
Pros: doesn’t clump, even coverage, doesn’t flake, cheap.
cons: big brush, takes a few minutes to dry, brush wand is flimsy/flexible
First off, I really love this mascara. It retails for about $5-$7 which is a great deal for mascara.
The brush is quite large, which isn’t bad for the top lashes, however trying to apply to the bottom lashes can be a chore. The formula also takes awhile to dry, and while it does create big doll lashes, because they are so long the product can smudge or transfer onto your face.
The formula doesn’t flake though, and it keeps my lashes fairly curled throughout the day (note in the picture I did not curl my lashes)
As mentioned in my cons list, the wand is fairly flexible. it takes a few tries to get used to it, but after several applications it’s not really an issue unless you like to furiously attack your eyelashes with mascara.
overall, I definitely recommend this mascara. It’s one of the better drugstore mascaras I’ve tried. Oh also, I have mine in the brownish black, yeah.. it’s black.

Hatsune Miku wig review

Hatsune Miku wig review.
Price: $25.80 w/ free shipping.
Pros of wig: Super soft(by far the softest wig I’ve ever bought), doesn’t tangle badly like most long wigs do and is easy to brush through, fits perfectly to my head/ is not extremely huge.
Cons of wig: Super thin, wefts falling off on hair clips/not sewn on properly, hair wefts show on main wig and show the hairclip and netting on ponytails, sheds like crazy, skintop is put on oddly(Normally the wefts go on top of the skintop to hide where it stops, but this one didn’t causing it to show.)
I bought this wig on the 23rd of April and it arrived the 5th of May. When I first opened the package I immediately noticed that it was not the correct color. In person it is a more green color than it is blue, as shown in the original image, and while I understand that different computer screens can change the color of images this wig was listed as a blue wig. (Not teal, or green, but blue) my camera couldn’t pick up the color you see in person so I had to google to find an image that looked the right color, and this is the shade it is in person (a tad bit lighter, but it’s the closest I could find). Which is very disappointing seeing as it does not match the blueish teal colors I bought for my Miku cosplay and looks odd when worn together.
When I took the pigtails out of the bag I also was very upset that it was not as thick as it was shown in the display picture. It was extremely thin and the hair clips showed, the wefts were not sewn on properly to cover the netting and hair clip.
image
(clip 1, both sides)
image
(clip 2, both sides)
Even when worn on the main wig it still shows.
image
image
The main wigs skin top is put on funny and I’ve never seen any other wig’s skintop put on like this. Normally the wefts are sewn on to cover the edge of the skintop so you can’t tell when it starts/ends, but on this one it’s not.
image
there is only one hair weft on the skin top, the rest of the hair on it are the ones that are poked through to look like real hair.
image
(The underside of the hairweft) to be honest I feel as though that single weft was glued on rather than sewn.
The main wig isn’t as bad as the hairclips, it is still pretty thin, if you are in person and were to look close enough you could see the wefts. But it’s mostly on top if not worn with the clips, if worn with them you can see the wefts pretty badly. It also does not shed as badly as the clips.
image
(right side, left side)
image
(front, back)
Over all I’d give the wig a 3/10, it’s extremely soft and is beautiful, but with all the things wrong with the clips, shedding, skintop, wefts, etc. It is not worth the $25 I paid for it. (I have contacted the seller about it, but I haven’t heard anything back)

Physicians Formula Super CC+ Review

Physicians Formula has recently released a new collection of “CC” or “Color Correction” products, today i’ll be reviewing the CC+ Powder with SPF 30.
quick pros and cons:
Cons: Easily becomes cakey, soft, shows dry patches, doesn’t work as a setting powder, only comes in two shades “light” and “light/medium”
Pros: cute packaging, can create a flawless look (with effort), corrects uneven skin tone.
The powder comes in an adorable compact, underneath the powder is a mirror and small brush. Although  this powder is cute, i’ve had better and for half the price. This retails for about $13-15, luckily I purchased mine on sale for $9 (which is still a lot for a penguin)
The powder itself is light and creamy, it originally came with three colors on the top (Pink, yellow, and green) however you can see that with use, those colors diminish.
I don’t recommend you use the brush that is included with this powder, the powder is very soft and the brush is stiff - meaning it picks up a ton of product, and with it’s size and shape, it really only places it where you initially press on your skin.
I also don’t recommend you place this powder over wet foundation/skin because it STICKS. Not only does it stick, it becomes cakey.
Im conflicted with how I feel about this product, it DOES cover up redness well, but it becomes heavy and cake very easily. It also doesn’t help any other makeup stay put - so it should not be used as a setting powder. It is also very expensive for a drugstore powder. However,  if placed well over foundation, it does give a very “flawless” look, almost like a doll.
Overall, i’d rate it 4/10.
It’s too much money for the quality of the product.

Wig-Supplier Review

At the start of the year I decided to try getting some wigs from Wig-Supplier, before I had seen a cosplayer I love mention that they bought wigs from there, so I figured it must be good.

Sadly, I no longer see the blonde wigs I received on their website, so I’m unable to link you to them, but I bought 2 long blonde and 1 short.
I noticed that the prices on the wigs were fairly cheap, anywhere from $8-$15 were the prices on the ones I bought. I was unable to find anywhere how much shipping was until I was about to buy the products. For two $15 and one $9 wig it was about $39, with shipping included it brought the price up to $70+ for the items.
I didn’t sign up for the website, so I had absolutely no way of tracking my shipment, all I had to do was hope it came in quickly- Which it did! About 1 1/2 weeks it came in.
image
All of them came in the same package and were packaged nicely, sadly I don’t have any pictures of the packaging, sorry!
The first thing I did was take one out of the bag to see what it looked like-
image
The curls were in tight ringlet curls at the bottom, the top wasn’t curly but only slightly wavy. It was really nice, thick and soft.
image
(Amazing editing on my face as you can see)
The shorter one was a more natural blonde, the longer ones had a more yellow undertone you’d find with most blonde cosplay wigs, once you ran your fingers through the curls they came out.
The downside to these wigs though was that they tangled AMAZINGLY easy, I bought two long to take one apart and put it into the other, and i ended up having to scrap the wig completely because of how horribly tangled it got.
if you attempt to detangle it, you lose the curls almost instantly, making it seem slightly wavy.
image
As you can see the front of the wig looks a bit frizzy at the bottom, due to having to de-tangle it so many times.
